It’s 8 pm on a weeknight after a long day of work, and the last thing on your mind is cooking. You need something quick and filling. Here’s a list of our favourite ready-made meals that you can heat up to silence the growing growl in your stomach.
Fable
This Australian company is using their plant based braised beef (made from mushrooms) in ready made meals that heat up in three minutes. Choose from Stroganoff, Bolognese and Massaman. Available at Woolworths.

This meal range, available at Coles, needs to be zapped in the microwave for just 6 minutes and you’re ready to eat.

An easy to reach for dinner or lunch option. Choose from lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, penne bake, and chilli con carne for tasty meals that are ready in minutes. Available at Woolworths.

Plant Nutrition
Not quite a reheat-and-eat type meal, but these are handy for the health-conscious, busy vegan. Choose from Bolognese, Chilli Con Carne, San Choy Bau, or Butter Chickpea, and add water for 15 minutes before following the cooking instructions on the back of the packet. Find them at Woolworths.

Another offering from Woolworths that’s super affordable and easy to eat on the run – each pack includes a spork so you can literally spoon it straight out of the box and into your mouth. The same brand also has vegan and gluten-free mac and cheese.

Lean Cuisine now has two vegan options: the Spiced Cauliflower Nutri Bowl, and Green Lentil Curry. Look for them in the freezer aisle at Coles.

Ruffie Rustic Foods
This brand is stocked in Woolworths and has a few vegan options including a Napoli sauced spaghetti and meat-free balls, portobello mushroom risotto, and a chicken-free schnitzel with penne pasta!

Coco & Lucas
The Coco & Lucas “Earth” range is perfect when you need something quick and filling on the run. Choose from their Fried Rice w Tofu & Veggies, Butter Chickenless, Spaghetti Veggie-nese, Chickens Satay Veggies & Rice, and Meatless Cottage Pie. Available at Woolworths.

Super Nature Bowls
These ready-to-heat bowls can be found in the freezer aisle at both Coles and Woolworths. There are three vegan offerings available: Sri Lankan Root Vegetable & Ancient Grain Curry with Cauliflower & Brown Rice mix, Green Chickpea Curry with Quinoa and Brown Rice, and Split Pea and Lentil Dahl. Look for the labels that say “100% Vegan” on the front.

IPastai
IPastai’s range of vegan ravioli is ready to eat in three minutes. Pair it with their vegan bolognese sauce or basil pesto and dinner is served. Pick it up at Woolworths.

Well and Good Mac & Cheese
Add your favourite plant milk and some vegan butter to this packet and you’ll have mac and cheese in less than 10 minutes in your microwave. Available at Coles and independent supermarkets.

Quorn Vegan Fillets, Schnitzels and Nuggets, are all excellent trolley items (available at both Woolworths and Coles) for those who don’t have much time to cook. Heat these up with some pre-cut frozen veggies and dinner is served!

For a quick pie or sausage roll for lunch, you can’t go wrong with Linda McCartney products in the freezer section at Woolworths.

Fry’s
Fry’s offers excellent variety for a quick feed – and the whole range is vegan! Throw a ready-made pie in the oven or for other quick feeds, choose between Quinoa & Brown Rice Protein Burgers, sausage rolls, schnitzels, popcorn chick’n and more. Both Coles and Woolworths stock Fry’s products, but the availability of individual items may depend on your location.

Hart & Soul

Spring Rolls and Samosas
A lot of spring rolls and samosas labelled “vegetarian” are actually vegan, so it pays to check the packet. Look for brands like Chan’s, Pacific West, Asiana Selection, Ho Mai, Darshan, and Crazy Dragon. Maybe they don’t really count as a meal – but they’re a hearty snack, at least!
