MORRISSEY CALLS ON THE JUST GROUP TO DROP CRUEL ANGORA PRODUCTS

Moz Teams Up With PETA to Ask Retail Group to Stop Selling Fur Ripped From Rabbits’ Skin

Melbourne – Despite learning from PETA Australia that workers on angora farms violently rip the fur out of live rabbits’ skin as the animals scream in pain, The Just Group continue to sell angora wool – prompting Morrissey, whose upcoming four-day stint at the Sydney Opera House is already sold out, to send a letter asking the retailer to consider.

“I’m looking forward to my concerts at the Sydney Opera House in May, but I was extremely dismayed to learn from my friends at PETA Australia that The Just Group refuse to modernise and drop angora wool from their clothing lines”, Morrisey writes. “By selling angora wool, you’re sending the message to millions of shoppers that your company condone the barbaric abuse and slaughter of rabbits and are willing to perpetuate it.”

In the letter, Morrissey goes on to note that other retailers who viewed PETA Asia’s undercover investigation of angora rabbit farms in China quickly told PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” – that they would drop angora products. Companies including Fast Future Brands, Jeanswest, General Pants Co, Sportsgirl, Myer and David Jones have all made the compassionate decision to stop selling angora – not to mention the world’s largest clothing retailer, Inditex, which not only permanently banned angora products from their clothing lines but also donated 20,000 brand-new angora wool garments from previous seasons to Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

“Please let me hear from you that you will drop angora from your products”, concludes Morrissey. “Otherwise, I will urge concertgoers to sign PETA Australia’s petition to your company at their information booths at my four sold-out shows.”
