Steakhouse Wins Award for Vegan Meal
Move over meat-eaters – vegans are converging on your favourite steakhouse.
That’s right: Hog’s Breath Cafe – which has 80 restaurant locations across Australia and New Zealand – has just added a kick-ass vegan option to its menu.
Behold the Crispy Vegan Schnitzel Burger.
The new menu also features an Avocado & Vegan Schnitzel Wrap. Now that’s hogspitality!
If you didn’t already know, hunger for cruelty-free cuisine is on the up and up. Interest in vegan eating is at an all-time high, and Australia leads the way, according to Google Trends data. It’s not hard to see why, since adopting a plant-based diet is better for your health, the environment, and, of course, our animal friends.
“A few years ago, some people might have thought that pigs would fly before you could order vegan food at Hog’s Breath Cafe,” PETA Australia Associate Director of Campaigns Ashley Fruno says. “But times are changing, and even the most traditionally meaty places are changing with it.”
As a special thanks, PETA Australia is giving Hoggy’s a Proggy!
The Proggy Awards (“Proggy” is for “progress”) recognise animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture.
With vegan options as delicious as this, it’s never been easier to take a bite out of cruelty to animals.
